For once, the sun shone brightly for this year’s Bingley Summer Garden Party, held at Andrea’s farm in Elslack. It was a beautiful day, and everyone looked lovely in their summer gear and sun hats — thanks to Andrea’s grandchildren’s dressing‑up box, everyone was sun‑safe. Not a kagoul in sight.

We were delighted to welcome several guests who helped swell our small group, and especially Nigel and Ann, who presented “Wine Is More Than Just Wine (Nigel Uncorked)”.

As many of you know, Nigel is a fabulous raconteur, and we all enjoyed both the wines and the stories they evoke in his memories. It was hard to choose a group favourite, as each wine had its own appeal, but the third white — Villa Flora Lugana, Zenato 2024 — proved a popular choice.

Andrea and Liz provided a lovely buffet of quiches, salads and desserts. Ooh, it was just like The Darling Buds of May. A splendid event.
